The Project

Restoration Project: Jubilee Rotunda, Albany, WA.

The Jubilee Rotunda is a heritage listed building located on Stirling Terrace overlooking Queens Park, the Memorial Gardens and Princess Royal Harbour in Albany, Western Australia.

Associated with the architect Robert Greenshields, it features an unusual half ellipse plan, high quality workmanship and has significant historical value. Built in a Federation Carpenter Gothic style, Rotunda construction commenced in 1897 and was officially opened on 23 May 1898. The Rotunda was used regularly for events such as concerts, public addresses and ceremonial occasions, including the reception of the official party for the Great White Fleet in 1908.

In 2023 The City of Albany engaged local Albany family construction business, Creations Homes, to restore and renovate the Rotunda. The result that we see today is the culmination of many hours of careful and considered work to restore this once proud and historically significant beauty back to its former glory.
